Abstract

In this paper a solar thermal system has been modeled and simulated in order to be applied to sanitary hot water (ACS). The main goal of this work is to increase the thermal efficiency by a suitable control system of the pump and improving the heat transfer between the absorber plate and the fluid, testing combinations of different mixtures of compounds and percentages of concentration. The model has been validated with real values from Madrid (Spain). On the one hand, the best mixture of fluids of the solar-thermal system has been obtained. Besides, we have performed a cost analysis and prospects of use of the solar collectors in Ecuador to show the feasibility and advantages of this energy system in this Latin-American country. The simulation results of the whole energy system show a way to implement this approach to Quito (Ecuador).
