Abstract
The purpose of this research was to determine the theoretical-practical guidelines of University Social Responsibility (USR), which oriented from the teaching, the training of students in the Pedagogy career of the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS), Quito (Q). Regarding the methodological approach, the research was developed in two stages: in the first, the conceptual guidelines of USR were established in university and institutional scenarios. In the second, the case study was carried out in the Pedagogy career of the UPS-Q, covering its three levels: management, teaching and students, through a mixed modality: qualitative and quantitative, of an evaluative nature. The qualitative method collected data and information through in-depth interviews with members of the Career Council and focus groups of ten students, randomly selected, from each of the 4th, 6th and 8th grade levels. The quantitative, through a survey, applied to the entire group of teachers. Finally, it was established that there is no clear conception of USR at the management, teaching and student level of Pedagogy at UPS-Q; it is a concept that is under construction. Nevertheless, there is an underlying idea of the commitment of the UPS to the most needy social sectors, which is expressed in the formative purposes of its students.
