Abstract

Food waste is a common practice in people, currently due to new lifestyles, father and mother work, households no longer tend to meet for lunch or snack at home, the growth of cities makes it difficult to move to the home to feed, plus the ease of access to resources such as the increase in fast food places, Another factor is the difference in the diets of young people who do not take responsibility for their nutrition, so they have no qualms about eating in places where they often do not like the food, all these factors involve food waste, All these factors imply food waste, because people usually make a food order but leave food that they do not consume on the plate, and it goes to the garbage can, it is also usually wasted in homes, there is no control of the food that is kept in the refrigerator and sometimes this food is lost, for which this research is carried out to analyze the problem in the world, In Latin America and Ecuador, a research is carried out in which a questionnaire is applied to a sample of students of the Business Administration Career in Guayaquil where the main reasons why they waste food and possible strategies to prevent waste are known.
