Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve student performance by following the inverted classroom pedagogical model. The participants of this study were 19 students aged between 18 and 22 years old who are pursuing a degree in systems engineering. The students are registered in the physics subject corresponding to period 46 (April 2015 - September 2015) and the topic corresponds to the chapter work and kinetic energy. The procedure followed in this study was as follows: (1) At the beginning of the unit, students were evaluated with an entrance test. (2) Students formed groups according to their preference. (3) Instruction was presented using the pedagogical model of the inverted class. (4) Students were evaluated at the end of the unit using the exit test. (5) A satisfaction survey of the applied model was provided. The time spent teaching this unit under this learning model was 4 hours. Paired t-test was used to accept or reject the null hypothesis. The results show that students who are exposed to the inverted classroom pedagogical model significantly improve the learning acquired.
