Abstract
Consumerism has caused the unsustainability of the production and consumption model, whose negative effects are reflected in global warming, pollution, destruction of the ecosystem and deepening of the wealth-poverty paradox. The consumerist ideology constitutes the main instrument of domination and reproduction of capitalism, in the face of the inconsequential alternative epistemic pluralism and the ideological inconsistency of the ecological paradigm and social and solidarity economy (SSE); which limits the arrival at theoretical assumptions contesting Eurocentrism, as is the case of socially responsible consumption (SRC).
