Abstract

One of the problems of our contemporary society is the asymmetrical epistemological, academic and social importance given to the different types of rationality. Indeed, progress and techno-scientific rationality is seen as the only prototype of rationality, not always compatible with other forms of rationality, such as ethical rationality. In the Ecuadorian case, it is clear that it has not been easy to achieve a good articulation between the scientific and academic activity developed in universities and ethics as an academic and research proposal. Erroneously, ethics, understood as the reflection on human action and as a discipline, is considered as a knowledge whose epistemological seriousness does not reach the levels of methodological rigor of the contemporary techno-scientific paradigm.
