Abstract
The issue of young people, from a generational perspective, requires reflecting on memory and historically problematizing social facts and processes. From this perspective, the authors propose to look at inequalities, their relationship with some of the aspects related to youth political participation and their effects on democracy from the recent history of the Ecuadorian case. The analysis attempts to show that the redistributive approach and proceduralism of the public policy implemented during the last decade are insufficient when it comes to building societal political fabric if the needs and possibilities of intergenerational historical memory work focused on young population sectors are not addressed.
