Abstract
When approaching the stories of Colombian travelers who traveled through the territory of present-day Colombia, we find different poetic, literary and historical descriptions, which narrate particular situations of the geography and the inhabitants of each place, having great influence in the generation of imaginaries and representations of the inhabitants and places in which they are found within the nascent State, reconfiguring the influence of the climate in their ways of life. In Colombia, these travelers explored and represented these lands throughout the 19th century, with economic and/or political interests. At the same time, national travelers travel and build stories and illustrations that show their perception of the territory and its inhabitants as opposed to the stories of foreigners.
