Estudio Paralelo del Suicidio en el Ecuador como Proceso Ritual de Significación

Although death is a generalizable state, it is not exempt from conflicts and divergences when it is socially narrated. This article presents the way in which the phenomenon of suicide can be studied from the meanings given to it from the perspective of the social actors involved in a ritual process of signification. Self-inflicted death provokes diverse collective reactions, according to the subject who interprets it and its cultural context, giving an account of these explanatory contrasts. It is a subject treated from different disciplines, geographies and temporalities. In the specific case of Ecuador, approaching the subject, in parallel from two complementary perspectives such as Anthropology and Psychology, is an attempt to understand something more of the multicausal phenomenon that affects an important part of the young population of the South American country.
