This paper presents a new method for the design of Step Voltage Regulator (SVR) in voltage regulation in residential connections, which is an automatic equipment operating under load occurs, and has 512 fine steps of 0.65 V regulation.Fluctuations voltage existing distribution systems and the residential sector were studied, due to dynamic phenomena that occur at low voltage were studied. These phenomena are caused by the constant changes in electricity demand and the trend in distributed generation in homes, making it difficult to maintain quality of service and reliability in the electrical systems. Equipment characteristics, composition and capabilities are shown in this work by testing a prototype voltage regulator. Finally the advantages of using this new equipment in residential connections and presents future prospects.
