Abstract

The objective of the following work is to diagnose the current state regarding the incorporation of subjective wellbeing in terms of the improvement of public management in the municipality of Consolación del Sur. As methods, dialectical materialism, historical logic, structural systemic analysis and the hypothetical deductive method were used to analyze the main authors who address this topic at international and national level. As an empirical method, bibliographic and documentary analysis was applied, as well as the questionnaire (survey and interview) to know the status of the incorporation of this approach as a management tool. It was found that in order to achieve effectiveness in the design and implementation of public policies, it is necessary to use the diagnosis of subjective wellbeing and the knowledge that research has generated to favorably influence people's wellbeing. Among the main potentials for incorporating the measurement of subjective wellbeing, it is important to take into account the satisfaction of needs and progress in local and community development in the municipality before any governmental decision. On the other hand, the lack of subjective information in the municipality, the economicist approach in the design of the development strategy and the unlimited explicit, instrumental and clear recognition of subjective wellbeing as a public policy approach in the normative body that governs the functioning of the Administration Council (CAM) constitute limitations.
