Abstract

Technological advancement mediatizes and transforms communication, digitizing the traditional and material way of being informed. Physical meetings are juxtaposed by new platforms, within the web 2.0, where the society in the areas of identification and information, not only as a scenario for interaction but also as a space to communicate. From this context, the Salesian Polytechnic University Guayaquil, in 2010, created a platform in the well-known social network Facebook, with the purpose of presenting a space of identity and news supply within the university community so that students can access information in an official way. Consequently, the research analyzes the impact and contribution to academic development, in order to verify the intentionality of its creation, the contents disseminated, the levels of relevance in consumption and the feasibility of its continuity, as a means of information, interaction and identity among students.
