Abstract

The first edition of the Salesian Congress of Science, Technology and Innovation for Society (CITIS), held from November 5 to 6, 2014 and organized by the Salesian University (Guayaquil Campus), offered research professors and the university community a suitable space for the dissemination and exchange of their research advances and results. In fact, the university research community (research professors and students) permanently produces theoretical and/or technical studies as well as technological innovation, deploying community outreach activities with a high research component. In this way, it generates genuine experiences of dissemination of its contributions to science, technology and innovation. The congress included two previous activities: the "Scientific Production Course" and the "First Salesian Scientific Production Contest". After a rigorous review process, the best papers were selected to be disseminated at the Congress in the form of papers or posters. Thus, the Academic Memoirs presented in this book are a significant sample of the interests, motivations and expertise of the research professors as well as the problems to which their research efforts are dedicated. Against the background of concern for the human and social dimension of the phenomena addressed, the reader will find a series of interesting studies gathered under the following thematic lines: commitment and social change, profession and society, economic and social growth, management and quality, organization, responsibility and society, and, finally, technology and society.
