Abstract
The Truth Commission in Ecuador (CVE) and the Report "Without Truth there is no Justice" (2010), were established as a measure of recognition by the Ecuadorian State of the successive human rights violations that occurred from 1984-88, and subsequently until 2008. In this context, this research was conducted to determine the impact of the work of the commission, in addition to various psychosocial aspects such as emotional sharing, perception of social climate, forgiveness and societal growth. The sample consisted of 387 participants between 19 and 79 years of age, divided into direct victims, indirect victims and the unaffected population. The results indicate that direct victims present greater knowledge and a better evaluation of the work of the CVE, share more of their emotions about what happened and perceive greater growth in society after the report, compared to the other two groups. Likewise, direct victims consider the urgency of addressing economic reparation first, followed by judicial and psychological reparation. These findings and their implications for the current discussion in Ecuador on reparations are analyzed.
