Abstract

The social contract and the Organic Law of Higher Education assign to the Ecuadorian university the role of training professionals with the skills and competencies required by the social and business sectors of the country. The relevance of the quality of higher education challenges the academic management of the university, asking: do the formative capacities and competencies of the student correspond to the required performance standards? The design of the Professional Performance Evaluation Model for the Commercial Engineering Graduate of the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS) of Ecuador, allows the evaluation of the generic and specific competencies achieved by the student during his or her training and work performance. The model gathers several experiences, particularly the generic and specific competencies of the graduate profile of the Tuning Europe/Latin America project.
