Abstract

It is noted that in contemporary Western society, in general, a totalizing, homogenizing form of teaching predominates, which overestimates mental processes and has distanced us from our bodies. There is a need to integrate the body in movement into the everyday of our existence, which is made visible with greater emphasis on dance and the performer. With this perspective, in January 2017 the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS) of Ecuador promoted the meeting Alternative Methodologies of Dance, being a pioneer in opening a space for reflection and exchange of knowledge between dancers, academics and the community interested in learning about the processes of dance. These activities are part of the proposal of dance as a research resource developed by Lorena Campo Aráuz. The objective is to promote dialogue between the different researches worked by dancers who are linked to academic institutions in Ecuador and the world. It seeks to overcome the limited vision of objectification of art in general, corporeality, dance and movement as elements of folkloric description and merely recreational, highlighting its creative, therapeutic and knowledge-generating potential.
