Abstract
The purpose of this work is to contribute with theoretical-conceptual tools that allow the understanding of the being, sense and meaning of women in the history of ancient and medieval philosophy, reflections that allow understanding the role of women in today's society. A series of alternatives are proposed that lead to the overcoming of unidirectional thinking and of the patriarchal character that subsists in some sectors and social spheres built from a philosophy elaborated from men, conceptions that have configured and consolidated a certain social structure that widens the gap between men and women, granting more power to the former. The manuscript reflects the changes experienced by women of all times in which a historical constant has been the search for freedom, social and political equality according to the circumstances and the context in which they lived. It is a work of bibliographic review, which in its construction used deduction as a research method that made possible the structuring of singular ideas and the understanding of the concrete reality. Likewise, the phenomenological-hermeneutic methods were used, which contributed to the deepening of the subject matter of the research, propitiated the analysis and interpretation of the information processed in this document.
