Abstract

© 2015 IEEE. Lately the use of wireless sensor networks for monitoring seismic events has increased; however, these networks depends on the previous acknowledge of the infrastructure and topology. This topology can't be updated if any of the nodes is lost during a seismic event, in addition the orientation of the first seismic wave can't be predicted; because of this, it is necessary to use a type of dynamic network topology. Using ad hoc networks for this purpose could be the answer, but the routing algorithms used in these networks needs to fulfill some characteristics. This paper propose the implementation of a variant of flooding algorithm; evaluating its performance using OMNeT++ simulator; describing a scenario of a 24-floor building. The results are compared against a more commonly used protocol; proving the good performance of this variant and contributing to the state of art.
