Organization profile

The high level of technology in advanced countries is largely driven by the generation, development and use of new materials. This activity has promoted a strong development of research and formulation of human talents worldwide in this field. At the local level, no systemic research process has been developed to improve existing materials and generate new materials in Ecuador. The technology currently used in industry generates a high level of waste by operators, among others. The incorrect use and transformation of materials raises production costs and makes companies less competitive.
The creation of the Research Group on New Materials and Transformation Processes (GIMAT) aims to contribute to the development of new materials in Ecuador, as well as to contribute to the study of the transfer of new transformation processes to national industry, linking its work with national and international research networks.

Mission Statement
It generates research, technological innovation and training of human talent in engineering applied to solve problems in the area of materials that contribute to the technological and scientific development of the region and the country.

Vision
To be a recognized research group with national and international scope, that contributes to improve the scientific, technological and innovation level in the area of materials. Establishing cooperation networks with higher education institutions, productive associations, national industries and national and international research centers.
