The GIIB has designed a new model for the development of prototypes to support the analysis of movement and study of the human gait, as well as development of prototypes of prostheses which has been implemented in people who have lost their limb. the same way, it is planned to carry out research practices in related topics. with the analysis of electromyographic signals. Electrocardiographs and electro encephalographs. for the determination of pathologies, based on the theory of learning significant number of doctors related to the subjects that belong to the different
hospitals of the city among them we have contact with the Hospital del Rio and the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso .
Also, it is important to emphasize that the GIJB is characterized for being formed by a multidisciplinary team that includes professionals of the areas of electronics, mechanics, computer science and teachers of the area of Physical Culture of the UPS. Another important strength of the GIIB is that it has state of the art equipment where students and professionals can adequately develop their activities, since
can always count on the accompaniment of the members of the group. The group has also established important research links with other institutions. university students.

The Research Group in Biomedical Engineering GIIB - UPS arises from the initiative of a group of UPS professors whose research area is Biomedical Engineering. The intention is to develop an applied research that raises solutions to the problems of Ecuadorian and international society, within the framework of biomedical engineering. As the first research group in the area of bioengineering in Ecuador, has the commitment to motivate with this experience the birth of similar initiatives in the country.
