Organization profile

Implement a Genetic Improvement Program in the different livestock species, taking into account the particularities of each of them. At the same time, to continue with the investigation in levels of production, health, sustainable management and well-being in these species.
Disseminate genetically improved animals to producers in the country, at a reasonable and sustainable price.
To train and instruct producers for a better efficiency in livestock production, either through continuous training courses or through congresses and/or conferences.
To have highly qualified animals at both the production and health levels in order to be able to carry out research in fields other than genetics.
Students' access to a practical vision of the functioning of a Genetic Improvement Plan, a selection nucleus and a cross-breeding programme between different breeds.
Creation of commercial agreements with slaughterhouses or large distributors for the sale of consumer channels.

Organization profile

The GLOBALGEN Research Group carries out research that attempts to cover aspects of the new paradigms, in particular: sustainable and environmentally friendly livestock production, the maintenance of biodiversity and the promotion and assurance of animal welfare and the fulfilment of their rights. In the development of its research work, GLOBALGEN collaborates actively with other Universities and research centres, both national and European, as well as governmental institutions such as MAGAP or the Ministry of the Environment.
