Organization profile

The Research Group on New Materials and Transformation Processes (GIMAT), aims to contribute to the development of new materials in Ecuador, as well as to contribute in the studies of transference of new transformation processes in national industry, and what is related to the work with national and international research networks.

The high technological level of advanced countries is largely driven by the generation, development and use of new materials. This activity has promoted a strong development of research and training of human talent worldwide in this field. At the local level, no systemic research process has been developed to improve existing materials and generate new materials in Ecuador. The technology currently used in the industry generates a high level of waste in the processing of materials, due to its age, lack of knowledge on the part of the operators, among others. The incorrect use and transformation of materials increases production costs and makes companies less competitive.
